Vic: Police release descriptions of suspected baby kidnappers

Police are searching for a couple in their mid 30s who snatched a three-week-old baby
girl from her mother in a carpark in Melbourne's western suburbs last night.

Twenty-seven-year-old ANITA CIANCIO had just strapped baby MONTANA into her car seat
at the Brimbank Central Shopping Centre in Deer Park about 5.30pm (AEST) when she was
sprayed with capsicum spray and assaulted by a man and a woman.

The couple sped off with the baby in a dark-coloured sedan.

Police say the man's described as Caucasian, about 170cm tall, with a medium build
and brown hair.

It's believed he was wearing blue jeans, a red check flannelette shirt and white runners.

The woman's about 165cm tall, fair, with a solid build and short red-blonde hair.

It's believed she was wearing a black roll-neck windcheater with black pants and a white runners.

The baby's father, JOE BARBARO, from Taylors Hill, has pleaded with the kidnappers
to return his daughter unharmed.

Inspector TONY CECCHIN says airport authorities have been alerted and police are following
up several leads.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
