Services set for Hugh Hough, prizewinning newspaperman

Services for Hugh Hough, Pulitzer Prize-winning newsman for theChicago Sun-Times, will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Hallowell andJames Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th, Countryside.

Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at the funeral home.

2 N.Y. Teens Charged With School Plot

NEW YORK - One is a 15-year-old who was recently suspended from his suburban high school for making violent threats, according to police. The other is an awkward 17-year-old hungry for attention, acquaintances say.

Together, they envisioned a bloody assault on students and staffers at a Long Island high school, chillingly planning it for the ninth anniversary of the deadly Columbine High School rampage, Suffolk County police said.

"I will start a chain of terrorism in the world," the 15-year-old wrote in one of several alarming journal entries, according to police. "This will go down in history. Take out everyone there. Perfecto."

Sidney L. Boyar, Former Sears Executive

Sidney L. Boyar, 80, a former Sears executive and board member,died Monday in the Cleveland Clinic.

In 1974, Mr. Boyar retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co. as vicepresident of factory management. At that post, he oversaw thecompany's manufacturing plants.

Formerly of the North Side, he had lived in Beechwood, Ohio,for the last six years.

Mr. Boyar joined the Chicago-based retailer as a salesman in1934. Three years later, he was transferred to the mainheadquarters, where he held engineering and buying assignments.Before becoming vice president in 1965, he was national merchandisemanager of the home laundry equipment buying department.

Ex-'Hills' star Patridge keeps momentum going

DETROIT (AP) — Bikini-clad Audrina Patridge was soaking up some sun by a pool in Los Angeles a few years ago when a reality TV producer spotted the aspiring model-actress. It was a chance meeting that ultimately led to a six-season run on the smash MTV series "The Hills."

These days, Patridge has traded her MTV gig in Hollywood for a web series in Detroit. Yet the 26-year-old beauty continues to attract attention — and maybe an occasional fan melee.

US Newseum aims to educate, entertain with its huge new home

A mangled and twisted metal tower that once broadcast radio and television signals to New York City from the top of the World Trade Center has a new home at the Newseum, Washington's monument to press freedom and other constitutional free speech protections.
