(11/2010) Cholera In Haiti?(Healing and Wellness)

The outbreak of cholera in Haiti that was confirmed October 21, 2010, the CDC says, was unlikely since cholera had not been documented for years.

According to the World Health Organization, cholera is an acute diarrheal infection caused by ingestion of food or water containing the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. The bacterium usually enters the water from the feces of an infected person. The symptoms of cholera, such as watery diarrhea and vomiting, can be cured by ingesting rehydration salts that replenish the lost water volume in the body.
