Fed: Ruddock blasts comments guards deserved to be bashed
Immigration Minister PHILIP RUDDOCK says claims that guards at the Woomera detentioncentre deserved to be bashed are the most appalling he's heard during his 29 years infederal politics.
Two security guards were attacked with tyre levers yesterday as six asylum seekersescaped the centre's highest security compound in South Australia.
Mr RUDDOCK says members of a balaclava-clad group helped the detainees escape and alsotried to drive over detention officers.
